About the course
Why golfers play Prestwick Country Club
Prestwick Country Club is a Pete and P.B. Dye collaboration from 1989 that measures 7,086 yards and carries a slope of 138 with a course rating of 74.7, numbers that mark it as a serious examination best suited to low handicaps and confident players. The rolling terrain, deep bunkers and well protected green complexes demand real shot making, though multiple tee sets let mid handicappers take on the Dye features at a manageable length. Water is used with purpose rather than everywhere, and the par 4 9th asks for an intimidating carry over it. The par 5 18th closes the round with a hole that rewards strategy over brute force. Its links style presentation in the heart of Myrtle Beach makes it a strong contrast round alongside the area's parkland courses. The course earns a place in a golf package for groups who want a Dye pedigree and a demanding finish.
