A lot of you read and enjoyed our recent piece on the PGA Tour Superstore, a massive, national-scale golf equipment emporium with two outposts in the Myrtle Beach area. And we heard from a number of longtime Myrtle Beach visitors asking us not to forget the other major golf retail chain located along the Grand Strand: Golfsmith.
To those readers, we say: “Excellent point!” So without further ado, here are our three biggest reasons why Myrtle Beach’s Golfsmith location is also great:
Amazing Variety in a Smaller Package
Yes, Myrtle Beach’s two PGA Tour Superstore locations tend to wow visitors — especially first-timers — with over 100,000 square feet of space each. But even at 30,000 square feet, Golfsmith is big enough to sate your golf-equipment cravings. Great options and deals on clubs, balls, accessories and apparel abound, and the in-house club repair shop does great work, as well. Furthermore, there are always multiple Golfsmith staffers on hand to answer any questions you may have. And just like at the PGA Tour Superstore, you can try clubs before you buy them at one of a number of hitting bays — some open style, others with built-in simulators.
Location, Location, Location
Golfsmith is ideally located smack dab in the middle of the Grand Strand, just off the intersection of the U.S. 17 Bypass and Highway 501. If you’re playing any of Myrtle Beach’s Central Strand courses, chances are you’ll pass right by it on the way to or from your tee time. And even if you’re on the way to dinner or some shopping at the nearby Coastal Grand Mall, Golfsmith makes for an easy diversion. Finally, its close-to-the-airport location makes it a great place to kill time before a return flight or, if you’ve arrived in the evening, a perfect pit stop to get you in the mood for your golf vacation to come.
Excellent Value and Deals
One of our favorite things about Golfsmith is its prices, which are always extremely competitive with the rest of the golf retail industry. Furthermore, Golfsmith is the perfect place to trade in used clubs, because from time to time they will offer a 50 percent value bonus on trade-ins, which can be used toward the purchase of new equipment, with only a couple exceptions. Just be sure to sign up for their emails and keep an eye out for the next one of these trade-in opportunities.
