Kings North at Myrtle Beach National is Arnold Palmer's showpiece, opened in 1973 and rebuilt by Palmer in 1996 into one of the most recognizable courses on the Grand Strand. At 7,017 yards with a slope of 137 and a course rating of 73.9 it is a stern test for confident players and low handicaps, while forward tees and wide landing areas keep it fair for mid handicappers. The Gambler, the par 5 6th with its island fairway, the island green par 3 12th and a par 4 18th lined by more than 30 bunkers are the headline holes. We requested an afternoon tee time and that proved to be a mistake. It was organized chaos waiting for carts for our group which resulted in our 2 foursomes being split up and one group starting on the front and one off the back. My group teed off almost 25 minutes late and both groups finished well over 30 minutes from each other. We all loved the course but would never recommend playing it in the afternoon. Next year we will request a morning tee time to avoid the wait for carts to be returned from the various courses on the property. That being said, we loved King’s North”
