Why golfers play Wild Wing Plantation – Avocet Course
The Avocet Course at Wild Wing Plantation is a Larry Nelson and Jeff Brauer design from 1993 that stretches past 7,100 yards from the tips, and with a slope of 135 and a rating of 74.8 it is a proper test for confident players and low handicaps. Shorter tee sets bring it within reach of mid handicappers, and the wide fairways keep the ball in play even when the elevation changes and water hazards ask questions. The par 4 14th is the hole players talk about, a short two shotter that can be attacked several different ways, while the par 5 18th closes with water guarding the approach. Large, undulating greens reward a sharp short game. Paired with the Hummingbird nine next door, the layout is an easy day to build a golf package around in Conway, a short drive from the beach.

Only negative was 3-5 of the greens were in rough shape. Overall very fun experience and when you combine it to its vicinity to other courses, easy replay availability, it was well worth it.”

Some of the green were not in the best shape but I understand they will be closing down from sometime in May to mid to late September to revamp the course. We’d definitely like to revisit this course again after they finish the updates.”
