Let’s take a closer look at the fabulous makeovers that have everyone buzzing:
Myrtle beach national – kings north
A Royal Revamp
King’s North, the Arnold Palmer masterpiece, is rolling out the royal carpet with a two-phase renovation plan. The first phase wrapped up in October 2024.
Greens Restoration: Expanded by a whopping 30,000 square feet and spruced up with TifEagle ultradwarf bermudagrass, these greens are smoother than your best putt.
Bunker Enhancements: With Capillary Concrete liners, these bunkers now laugh in the face of rain—no more washouts!
The Gambler’s New Look: The iconic par-5 6th hole, “The Gambler,” now features a dramatic waste area, replacing one of the fairway bunkers. Risk-takers, rejoice!
Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club
Jack’s Masterpiece Gets Even Better
Jack Nicklaus’s signature course just snagged the title of 2024 Course of the Year, and for good reason. With upgrades that cater to both your game and your après-golf plans, Pawleys Plantation is a must-play.
Greens Resurfacing: Over 40,000 square feet of pristine putting surface reclaimed and topped with TifEagle Bermudagrass.
Bunker Reconfiguration: Thoughtfully repositioned to make your round more enjoyable—and maybe shave off a stroke or two.
Clubhouse Glow-Up: “Palmetto Jack’s,” a swanky new dining spot, now awaits your post-round stories and celebratory cocktails.
Myrtlewood Golf Club’s PineHills Course
Where Strategy Meets Scenery
The PineHills Course didn’t just renovate; it reimagined. Bunkers are now a mix of beauty and strategy, thanks to architect Dan Schlegel.
Bunker Rebuild: Every single bunker got a makeover with Capillary Concrete, ensuring they’re as functional as they are photogenic.
Hole 16’s Transformation: Added fairways and repositioned bunkers make this hole a strategist’s dream.
Tidewater Golf Club
A Leaner, Meaner Layout
Over at Tidewater, it’s all about streamlining for speedier rounds and elevated play. The mid-November 2024 bunker renovation is already making waves.
Bunker Reduction: Removing about one-third of the bunkers (mostly in the fairways) means less digging and more swinging.
Playability Boost: These changes make the course friendlier for weekend warriors without compromising its challenging charm.
Rivers Edge Golf Club
Nature Meets Nurture
This Arnold Palmer-designed gem in Shallotte, N.C., is undergoing exciting upgrades, particularly on the back nine, which is currently closed but expected to reopen by the end of December 2024. Here’s what’s in store:
Bulkhead Repairs: Wooden bulkheads on holes 9, 15, and 18 are being restored.
Natural Grass Tees: Artificial mats on the par-3 15th are being replaced with durable TifTuf Bermuda grass.
Tee Box Rebuilds: The white tee box on the 15th, suffering from erosion, is getting a much-needed overhaul.
Sea Trail Byrd Course
A Modernized Classic Reimagined
The Byrd Course at Sea Trail Golf Resort recently underwent significant renovations, making it a standout destination for golfers. Here’s what’s new:
Expanded TifEagle Bermuda Greens: These greens now provide enhanced consistency and putting speeds.
Better Billy Bunkers: New bunker construction ensures excellent playability, even after heavy rain.
Upgraded Infrastructure: New cart paths, bridges, and revitalized fairways enhance the overall playing experience.
Grande Dunes Resort Course
Elevated Excellence
In the summer of 2022, the Grande Dunes Resort Course underwent a greens, bunkers, and clubhouse renovation project that reinvigorated its already acclaimed layout.
Greens Restoration: The installation of TifEagle ultradwarf bermudagrass reclaimed 40,000 square feet of putting surface, a 33% increase, returning the greens to their original size.
Bunker Enhancements: Bunkers had their original shapes and contours restored, and new Capillary Concrete liners improved their playability and conditioning.
Fairway Expansion: Fairways were collectively expanded by eight acres, making them some of the most forgiving in Myrtle Beach.
Clubhouse Renovation: The Grande Dunes clubhouse received a modern update, and Terrazza 19, an onsite restaurant, opened to rave reviews, offering exceptional dining to golfers and locals alike.
